Blogs are so not my thing

So it has been around 4 months since I last wrote and things have really changed. I only lived in San Marcos for 7 weeks before my feet got itchy and I was on the road again. After leaving the lake I went to Honduras and spent about 3 and a half weeks soaking up the sun on the Caribbean coast. I tried to scuba dive, but my ears wouldn´t allow it. Headed back to the lake for a few days to show some new friends the real magic of the place. Then Hamish and I took of to Lanquin/Semuc Champey which is a wonderful and beautiful place in Guatemala. Caught a flight down to Costa Rica to enjoy a week at a resort with my dear friend Amanda. Since her and I parted ways at the end of March, I have seen Panama, more of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I am making my way back to the lake (I couldn´t leave without saying one last goodbye) to fly home next week. This is probably the end of me and blogging. Or at least for this trip.

My new home

sunny

Just as I anticipated, I would not keep up with my blog. I arrived on Lago Atitlan 6 weeks ago, and not much has changed since I arrived. I have been volunteering locally teaching English to some children. It has been a lot of fun, but I am moving on to another project. Tomorrow I will go to another village on the lake and start work for a Canadian NPO that builds natural wetlands to clean the wastewater. I have decided to stay here for the next half a year or so and take a few side trips to close by instead of backpacking the whole time.
I will be living in San Marcos La Laguna which is on Lake Atitlan and is a very beautiful and peaceful place. There are a few different yoga and meditation centres there which is the main traveler attraction.
That's all for now.

Gotta Love Mexico

overcast 15 °C

Well I have been in Chiapas Mexico for about 2 weeks now, and it is awesome. It is a very chill town with lots to do, and plenty of interesting places close by. Last week we went to Chamula San Juan and visited the local Zapatista community which was very interesting. I also went on a boat ride to the Cañon de Sumidero last week. There were lots of crocs and birds to see. I spent the last few days in El Panchan which is a great little spot right in the middle of the jungle. It is a few km from the Palenque ruins. I spent the day there walking around, it is amazing to see these buildings that were built thousands of years ago. I went to Misol Ha yesterday which is a waterfall that it very beautiful on a sunny day. Unfortunately, it is very rainy and cold in Chiapas right now. I am headed to Guatemala at the end of this week, where I will get settled in San Juan and work on my español.

La Playa

sunny 27 °C

Happy Thanksgiving! I wish I could have a nice turkey dinner right now, but I guess I will settle for the beach and some sunshine. Tomorrow I am off to the beach after a great week in Guadalajara Mexico. This weekend I had a chance to see a Futbal game, watch a Mariachi Band and visit the town of Tequila where we went on a tour of the Tequila factory followed by some sampling. I have been having a great time in the city, but it is time to hit the beach, learn how to surf and get a tan. I am going to Sayulita, Mexico which is a small beach town on the Pacific Coast.

Viva Mexico!

sunny 23 °C

Well I have arrived in beautiful Guadalajara, Mexico where I am staying with Mauricio and his family who have made me feel right at home. I have be playing tourist during the day, and hanging out with Mauricio and his friends in the evenings. Yesterday I went downtown and visited some museums and the Cathedral. Today, I went to the University where Mauricio´s parents work and met some students in the Graduate program. This weekend we will go to visit Tequila, you guessed it, home town of the famous drink.
